At Ethnic, we’re committed to building our network of interpreters and translators in all languages, so that we can offer our clients an even better service.

At present, we have a database of over 4000 independent interpreters and translators nationally in more than 200 languages. If you’d like to join our network, read on for more information.

Who can join the Ethnic network?

We encourage you to join our network if you are:

• a practicing interpreter or translator
• currently completing an interpreting or translating training course
• thinking of starting a career in interpreting.

Do I need to be accredited?

Accreditation is a necessary requirement, but experienced interpreters are welcome.

About 500 of our contractors hold NAATI accreditation at a professional level (Level 3 or higher). Where professional level accreditation is not available, we use paraprofessional accreditation (Level 2). In languages where no NAATI accreditation is available, Ethnic assesses the applicants’ education and experience for their suitability.

As part of our commitment to providing the highest standard of service available, we also require all our interpreters and translators to undertake additional courses provided by AUSIT.

What is the working arrangement?

Ethnic engages interpreters and translators as contractors, so you will need to have an ABN, and be registered for GST, if required. .

We offer:

• regular industry updates as they come through from Ethnic’s clients and AUSIT.

If you’re successful, Ethnic will contact you when suitable job requests arise. Contractors then accept jobs depending on their availability and location.
